Falcons see off Birkirkara to keep up pressure on volleyball leaders Swieqi Phoenix Nium

Falcons kept up the pressure on leaders Swieqi Phoenix with a comfortable win over Falcons.

The 2023-24 volleyball season continued last weekend with matches from various categories at the Cottonera Sports Complex.

The women’s Super League only featured one match this weekend but was a key fixture in this season’s title race.

Falcons, led by coach Branko Vlahovic, kept alive their hopes of challenging for the league title when they had the better of Birkirkara by three sets to one.

With this win, the Falcons kept up the pressure on leaders and champions Swieqi Phoenix Nium.

On the other hand, Birkirkara remained second from bottom in the women’s Super League standings.

In the First Division, Mġarr maintained their winning run when they overcame Birkirkara Reds 3-0.

With this win Mġarr have further strengthened their grip on top spot in the Division One standings.

In the second match, Birkirkara Yellows eased past Paola Yes2Health Fitness Club 3-0.

Next weekend, the volleyball season resumes with two matches from the First Division championship on Saturday when BKVC Yellow take on Mġarr Volley while Swieqi Ph

U 19 League:  BKVC vs Paola Executive Security 0-3; BKVC vs Swieqi Tough Cookies 0-3.

First Division: Paola Yes2Health Fitness vs BKVC Yellows 0-3; Mġarr Volley vs BKVC Reds 3-0.

U17 League: BKVC Storms vs Depiro 0-3; Flyers vs Swieqi Phoenix Challengers 0-3.

Super League: Birkirkara VC vs Falcons  1-3
