Falcons chalked up another win in the women’s Super League as the Malta Volleyball Association competitions resumed at the Cottonera Sports Complex this weekend.
Super League leaders Falcons, under the charge of coach Jacques Seifert, overcame the challenge of Mġarr 3-0.
Although Falcons secured all the spoils from the match, however, they had to battle more than expected to overcome the challenge of Mġarr, under the charge of Marvic Micallef and Tony Sammut, winning 25-21, 25-20 and 25-23.
With this win, Falcons maintained top spot in the Super League on 18 points, followed by Swieqi Phoenix Nium on 12 points while Birkirkara are third on five points.
The Flyers are in fourth place with three points, while Mġarr remain at the bottom of the standings with no points to show.
In the only match from the First Division championship, a young Depiro side, under the charge of Charles Gauci, overcame Birkirkara Reds 3-0.
Depiro dominated the match, winning 25-14, 25-20 and 25-9 sets.
Paola Executive Security are the leaders of the First Division on 18 points, ten clear of Birkirkara. Depiro are in third plae on seven points.
