Falcons sent a title warning to their rivals with an impressive victory over current champions Swieqi Phoenix Nium as the women’s Super League resumed last weekend at the Cottonera Sports Complex.
The clash between Swieqi and Falcons was the most anticipated clash of the weekend between the two top-placed teams in the division. Leaders, Falcons, laid down a title marker with an emphatic 3-0 victory.
Falcons showed great nerves of steel to take the opening two sets 25-17 and 25-21 before prevailing 26-24 in a nailbiting third set.
With this win, Falcons strengthened their grip on top spot as they moved on the 21-point mark, six clear of Swieqi Phoenix Nium.
In the other match from the top flight played last weekend, Flyers eased past Birkirkara 3-0.

The Flyers were in control right from the outset, winning the opening three sets 25-18, 25-13, and 26-24.
With this victory, Flyers leapfrogged Birkirkara into third place on six points, one ahead of the same Birkirkara.
